Coastsider has local news from around the Web

Our Local Headlines section has local coastside news from other Web sites.

On this page, you’ll get the most recent stories featuring coastside communities from the Mercury News, San Mateo Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and a lot of other sources. We use Google News, which is entirely automated, so sometimes the stories may not be on-target, but it’s amazing how many interesting local stories it turns up. This page also contains a link to our RSS feed of local headlines.

We also link directly to Google news from our navigation bar on the left side of every page.

Coastsider Calendar BETA

posted by Barry Parr  on Thu, Jan 1 at 11:24 am in  Events Click to email this story

We’ve moved Coastsider’s calendars to Google Calendar.  This will give us a bunch of advantages. You will be able to subscribe to Coastsider’s calendars more easily in iCal, your RSS reader, or your own Google calendar.

There’s a lot more detail on our entries. Click on entries to see the detail. Experiment with the links to see what happens. You have a lot of control over how the calendar is displayed on Coastsider’s pages. Click on the links in the calendar header to see what you can do. You can take advantage of Google Calendar’s other features to add individual events to your own calendar or schedule reminders of particular events.

Soon, we will be able to integrate your organization’s calendar into Coastsider’s calendars. This means you’ll be able to update your own events on Coastsider’s pages by yourself.

We’re still working on updating the calendar, so please check all events with the organizer.

Advertise on Coastsider

Ads on Coastsider appear in the right-hand column of nearly every page (including this one). They are set off by a background color and a “Sponsored Links” headline at the top of every section.

We use text ads because they have been shown to be more effective than graphic ads, cost less for advertisers to develop, and allow for a consistent format with a clear call to action for our readers.

It’s easy and inexpensive to advertise on Coastsider.
