Kevin Stokes of the Montara Beach Coalition sent us a very cool Google Earth flythrough of Highway 1 and the Slide with lots of landmarks labeled.  To use it, first downlaod Google Earth, then download the flythrough and run it.  If you haven’t played with Google Earth yet, it’s about time you did. It’s an absolutely astonishing program.

OMG. "Absolutely astonishing" is absolutely right. Google Earth will eat many, many of my hours! The flythrough of Hwy 1 is great.

This is amazing. You need to play around with it a bit to get the full sense of what this can do.

A note about some trouble I had. When I launched it, I got an error. I was able to work around the problem by first picking the menu "Set Google Earth to OpenGL Mode" in the Start Menu in Windows. This may not work for everyone, and may not be necessary, but I thought I'd share that in case someone else has the same problem.
