Cafe Lucca in Montara hosts an Open Mic night every other Saturday night, from 7 to 9 p.m.  It’s a great place to come out and hear music, poetry and comedy from many coastsiders and visitors to the coast.  With a very family-friendly environment, the Open Mic night provides a great opportunity to see the wide variety of talent here on the coast.

Unfortunately, with the slide closing and perhaps general weekend travel, the Open Mic has seen a decline in attendance of both performers and audience over the past month or so.  There is a chance that it will be cancelled if there is not a greater attendance on future dates.  I would just like to ask residents of the coast to please come out and support this event.

Montara residents can easily walk to this event.  Lacking any town center in Montara, the Open Mic is also a great way to meet your neighbors.  Please come on down.  Montara Mike, Montara Mark and the 4th Street Experience will be playing.  It’s a lot of fun.

The next Open Mic is this Saturday, June 3rd, from 7-9 p.m.

As Mike points out this is a really fun night out, we have been to two events and had a blast. There are many extremely talented musicians and artists living right here on the coast and this event is a showcase for some of that talent. We always see our friends and neighbours there and meet new people every time, the sense of community spirit shines brightly here, come down and join in, support your community. By the way, I've heard of Montara Mark but who is this Montara Mike character? Better get down and check him out on June 3rd.

Montara Kevin.

Kevin,

Thanks for you kind words. It will good to see you there. Ah, Montara Mike.... Well, he's much like Keith Richards. Unfortunately, he does not have Keith Richards skills, but rather looks much like him. I won't say his guitar playing is bad, but dogs have been known refuse walks when Montara Mike plays outside. Other than that, he's a pretty decent guy, assuming you catch him during his few sober moments. We'll see you Saturday night.

Montara, er, Mike McCall

I was quite happy to read about this on Coastsider. I stopped by last nite and it was very enjoyable. Thanks to Mike and Kyle for their efforts in organizing it. Hope to make the next one.

Thanks, Tammy! We're glad you could make it. It was a lot of fun.

We're already organizing the next Open Mic so that we'll have a good variety of performers.

Regards, Mike
