Sheriff’s Log: May 5 to May 9

Nothing much happened this week—a warrant arrest at Gray Whale Cove, three cases of car vandalism, and a public drunk.

Warrant Arrest 05-2591
05-08-05 @ 0611hrs
Gray Whale Cove

On the above listed date and time Deputies were on routine patrol in the area of Gray Whale Cove. Deputies noticed a lone occupied vehicle with out of state license plates parked in the south end of the lot. A welfare check was conducted and the occupants contacted. The driver of the vehicle, age 28, of Walnut Creek was found to have a warrant out of Georgia. He admitted to two drug cases pending in Georgia and thought he might have missed a court date. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Kings Mountain

On the above date and time, Deputies were dispatched to Skyline Blvd/Kings Mountain regarding a vandalism report.  Upon arrival they made contact with the victim who told them that he parked and secured his Mercedes Benz in front of his residence on Skyline Blvd. at approximately. 2200 hours on 5/8/05.  Upon his return to the vehicle on 5/9/05, he discovered that the front windshield, the left front door glass, and the left side view mirror of the vehicle had been smashed.  Immediately upon discovery he called the Sheriff’s Office to make a report.

Avenue Alhambra

On the above date and time, Deputies were dispatched to a call of a possible suicidal man with a gun. Deputies approached the subject with extreme caution. The man, age 63, of Montara was not armed with a gun, but was found to be intoxicated to the point of being unable to care for himself. He had made comments to an acquaintance that he would just kill himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the county jail.

La Honda Road

Deputies were dispatched to La Honda Rd. regarding a vandalism to a vehicle.  Upon arrival they made contact with the victim, who told them that sometime between 1000 hours on 05-07-05 and 0730 hours on 05-09-05, unknown suspects smashed the left rear vent window and flattened the two left side tires on their pick up truck.  The victim told Deputies that the vehicle has been parked and has not been used much lately. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

05-2670 @ 1430hrs
Palma Street

Between 05-10-05 at 1630 hours and 05-11-05 at 1430 hours, unknown suspects broke the rear driver side window and entered a vehicle that was parked in front of a residence on Palma Street in El Granada.  Once inside of the vehicle the suspects opened several empty boxes that were lying in the back seat. There were no items reported missing.

Barry - I’d really like to see you do a piece on the accuracy of the Sheriff’s Log and the HMB Police Log. I was told by a HMB police officer several years ago that they are not accurate - and that items are toned down, and omitted, on a regular basis.
