Fiancé or Fiancée A man engaged to be married is called his partner's fiancé. A woman engaged is called her partner's fiancée. These words are pronounced identically in English; the separate feminine form exists because of the inflectional morphology of grammatical gender in French, where the term originated. Examples for grooms: My fiancé and I are being fitted for our tuxedos this Tuesday. Example for Brides: My fiancée loves my Vera Wang gown however she prefers to ware a suite…

Gay couples rewriting wedding etiquette By By Sasha Talcott, Globe Correspondent | March 21, 2004 NEW YORK - It's not a question of finding the perfect groom-and-groom wedding cake topper anymore. These days, it's all about whether same-sex couples want a fancy, multitiered cake at all. Instead, carrot cakes are all the rage, and so are chocolate and lemon. The tradition dies hard, but others say anything beats the cardboard-tasting wedding cakes of yore. ``The gay community just has better taste.…

Opinion: $1,287,500 for recreation: use it or lose it!

I support alternative number ONE. Voluntarily re-allocate property tax funds to Midcoast recreation uses is an excellent plan. As a homeowner in Moss Beach I have become increasingly frustrated with the lack of funding resources available for Midcoast community Parks & Recreation programs. The Midcoast desperately needs Parks & Recreation funding! We need the following ASAP: Pocket Parks with Community Gardens Community Center Bike & Pedestrian Trails Ball Fields The County has not made Midcoast…

Measure O will be on the June 3rd 2008 ballot. It is projected to cost the average person $18 per year. The revenue would generate approximately $16 million of new-dedicated funds per year for San Mateo County parks and recreation.…

Supervisor Gordon suggests MCC has “outlived its usefulness”

Vince, Kevin, Carl, Paul & Howard: Thanks for the lively discussion. I am attempting to better understand our toothless advisory body. I have a few questions. Vince Williams please describe with some level of detail your experience with the Board of Supervisors and why you found the BOS to be accessible. Why should the BOS have control over the MCC agenda? Why can’t the MCC self-regulate? Kevin Lansing please elaborate on why you believe a significant portion of Midcoast residents are not…

Supervisor Gordon suggests MCC has “outlived its usefulness”

January 25, 2008
Is the MCC dead? The Midcoast needs community based representation, planning, project funding and implementation. That costs money and the county doesn't want to pay for it. How do we deal with that? The Midcoast Parks and Recreation plan has been approved by the county and is in a holding pattern until funding is allocated. How many years will it take before this LONG OVERDUE plan is fully funded and implemented? The community has failed to keep the MCC going in a positive direction. This is not…
