Billy Elliot to star in local production of “The Nutcracker”!

JP Viernes (of Billy Elliot fame) to star in Shely Pack Dancers production of the NUTCRACKER in Xmas extravaganza at Skyline College December 19th !!!!

Many students of the local dance studio “Shely Pack Dancers” have gone on to careers in the performing arts but it is John Peter (JP) Viernes (age 15), one of Pack-Manning’s most promising students,  that has had heads turning. Under the careful eye of Shely Pack-Manning (the studio‘s director),  JP has impressed even the most seasoned professionals on Broadway while traveling all over the country as Billy Elliot. He even made an appearance on Oprah with Sir Elton John.

Now Viernes will be starring in a production he knows quite well as he has performed in many Shely Pack Dancers productions over the years since starting with Shely when he was seven.

The Nutcracker is not a show the Shely Pack Dancers take lightly nor is a show they perform every Xmas season. “The choreography is difficult and it takes a tremendous amount of time and energy to put this show together. In fact, we had a special summer camp this past July to introduce the students to the complexities of Tchaikovsky’s music and the nuances of the movement”.

The performances are at Skyline College in San Bruno December 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available at the door or in advance by calling Shely Pack Dancers at (650) 726-7811. This is one show that the grandparents and grand kids can all enjoy together.

The studio was named one of the top fifty studio’s in the country by Dance Spirit Magazine and draws students to the San Mateo Coast from as far as Fremont, San Jose, and Livermore.
