Trio Cabrillo presents its third music scholarship benefit concert at 3 P.M. Sunday, Nov. 18, at Community United Methodist Church in Half Moon Bay. The music includes an enchanting performance of classical tangos “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires” by Argentinean composer Ástor Piazzolla, arranged by Trio Cabrillo’s page-turner, Michaele Benedict, who plays keyboards with the Coastside Community Orchestra.
Also on the program will be Ludwig von Beethoven’s Trio in C minor, Op. 1, No. 3, and Johannes Brahms’ trio in A minor, Op. 114.
All proceeds from the concert will go toward scholarships awarded each year by Coastside Community Orchestra to deserving music students nominated by Coastside music teachers. In its almost thirty-year history, the orchestra has given more than a hundred of these scholarships.
Cellist Charles Calvert is a member of the Coastside Community Orchestra. Violinist Bruce Yu and pianist Robert Shultz, the other members of Trio Cabrillo, have performed with the orchestra in the past.
