Happy Earth Day Everyone!

San Mateo County Surfrider will be leading a beach clean-up at

Poplar Beach (and the bluffs)
this Saturday, April 19
from 9:30 to 11:30am.

We will provide gloves and garbage bags.

Since this is a dog-friendly beach, please bring Fido along - just remember to pick up after him with the bags provided by the City of Half Moon Bay at two posts in the parking lot.

The Pacifica Beach Coalition invites all participants to the Celebration Event at the pier in Pacifica starting at noon. The greatest part about the celebration is looking around and realizing how many other people are out there thinking like you do. With everyone doing their small part we are making some big things happen!

FAQ for Beach Clean-Up:

1.  Do I need to stay for the entire two hours?
-No.  You show up any time between 9:30 and 11:30, grab a bag and gloves from us, and take as long, or as short, of a time as you’d like!  Any little bit helps!

2.  Will I have to pick-up and handle hazardous items?
-No.  You can point those out to us and let us arrange for their proper disposal.

3.  Do I need to walk far down the beach?
-No.  You can help greatly just in the parking lot alone!  There are some volunteers who venture off to the farthest reaches scouting for trash to pick-up, others prefer to remain close-by.  It takes both types to make our beach(es) beautiful.

And if that info isn’t encouraging enough, please watch this.  :)
