Hi,

This will be our first 4th of July in Montara. Do people light up a lot of fireworks in the neighborhoods? We don’t really mind but our Border Collie is deathly afraid of fireworks.

Thanks,

Jim

All fireworks, including the “safe & sane” variety sold in Pacifica are illegal in the unincorporated Midcoast, as well as in Half Moon Bay.

However, there will certainly be explosions in the night.

Some advice from the ASPCA on pet safety for the 4th of July: Fireworks and Your Furry Friend

I like their idea of giving a nervous dog a Kong filled with peanut butter.

Our guys don’t get frightened, but the booms make them bark. We’ve already had a few firecrackers going off in the neighborhood. It’s dry out there, people. Please use some common sense!
