Bio |
Vanitha Sankaran straddles the line between her left and right brain. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Antioch University, where she received the Eloise Klein Healy scholarship. Her first novel, Watermark: A Novel of the Middle Ages, is due out in print by Avon A/Harper Collins in April 2010. She is a founding editor of the literary journal flashquake, and though her first love is novels, has written numerous pieces of short fiction. Her work has been published in print journals such as Mindprints, FUTURES, Prose Ax, and The Midnight Mind, serialized in the newspaper The San Francisco Call, appeared on-line in venues such as The Green Tricycle, The Paumanok Review, The Copperfield Review, and The Dead Mule, and been aired on the Bay Area affiliate of NPR. Vanitha lives in coastal California, whose beauty often distracts her from writing. Her greyhound, Zola, is another anti-Muse. |
