There’s a Siamese cat hanging around my house in Montara. Anyone missing one? Since it doesn’t leave at night I’m assuming it’s lost. I can’t bring it inside because my cat will fight with it. *Very* affectionate cat, clearly not feral - if I didn’t already have a cat that doesn’t like other cats I’d keep it in a heartbeat. It’s a sweetie and appears to be healthy - no signs of scratches from fighting or fleas, nice coat. We are trying to make it feel safe and happy until we can figure out where it belongs, but I hate leaving it outside at night. This cat has a clearly distinguishing physical characteristic - if you can describe that, then it’s your cat.

Try putting up flyers on 11th and 12th streets, off Farallon in Montara. There are two homes in this area that have siamese cats. I haven’t seen one of the cats recently. Thank you for taking care of him. I hope you can find the owner.

Hi, Diane.

Thanks for the reply. :-) Will put up flyers on a few corners. Am also planning to check the stores in Montara and Moss Beach to see if anyone has posted anything. And we had a brainstorm - I ordered a pet tag today, but instead of a name it will say “does she have a home? please let us know” and then my email and cell phone. We’ll get her a collar and put that on her, so if she is going home at some point or another, I’m assuming the owners will notice the collar and get in touch.

Cats are notorious for having more than one “home.” It’s entirely possible that that’s what this cat is doing, and I would be delighted to find out that is the case, although she sure is spending a lot of time with us! I would really like to know her story, and if nobody emerges as an owner, I’d like to find her a good home.

Well, she’s been here over a month now. I’ve been checking craigslist, sfgate, and the HMB Review plus local bulletin boards regularly, and the only possible match was a cat from San Carlos that has been missing since January. I emailed that cat’s owner a photo of this cat’s eyes, and she says this is definitely not her cat. Whenever I see a sign on a street corner for a missing cat I check that as well, but I haven’t seen any that look like this kitty.

So I guess we’re keeping her. This past Friday we took her to the vet. She doesn’t have a microchip, and she does have a scar from being spayed. She tested negative for feline leukemia. So we got her her first batch of shots, and she’ll get her boosters and a microchip in a month.

I am sad, because I’m sure somebody is missing her, but I can’t check every newspaper in the US! And we will give her a great home. :-)

I saw a flyer posted of a missing Siamease cat at the corner of Farallon and 9th today, 7/16. The cat has been missing for about the same time you found your cat.  Their cat is a male, and I am guessing your’s is a female, but I know of one vet that didn’t get the gender of a cat right, so it’s worth following through on!

Hi, Diane.

Thanks for replying!

A few days ago we realized that this cat actually belongs to my neighbors two doors down - I had actually been in touch with them asking if they knew of anyone missing a Siamese cat, but for various amazing reasons we didn’t put two and two together until last weekend. I’ve been meaning to post something here to the effect that the owners had been found, but I just hadn’t gotten around to it.

I hope that woman finds her missing cat - it is so agonizing not knowing where they are.
