I asked a friend of mine to recommend a local general practitioner in the area.  Anyway, I went to see this doctor for a recent problem that I had with my shoulder.  The doctor was very nice, but she only asked me questions and gave me some prescriptions for the pain I was experiencing.  She did not take a look at my shoulder.  She also gave me a recommendation to see a physical therapist.  The first week went by, and I was in such terrible pain that I hadn’t seen a therapist yet.  I called the doctor back and asked if I should get an MRI or X-ray before seeing the therapist, and she said to simply go to the physical therapist and they would decide what to do.  My husband thinks I should get a second opinion from a different doctor.  Does anyone have a good recommendation - someone who will actually take a look at my shoulder??  I don’t want to see a physical therapist until I know what’s actually going on.  I wouldn’t want to damage my shoulder further.  Thank you for your help.

I switched two years ago to Dr. Pamela Carrington on Main St. and have been very happy.  I have referred several families to her, and everyone has come back to thank me!

Thanks Katharine.  Actually the doctor I went to see was in that same office.  I finally went to see an orthopedic doctor in Daly City who definitely took a look at my shoulder and found a problem.  Regarding a general practitioner, I may just switch to Dr. Carrington.  Thank you again for your help.  I really appreciate it.
