Walking the North end of Montara Beach early this morning looking for oil spill evidence, I came across this unsightly mess. No, it’s not an oil slick in the sand or even a grouping of tar balls. It’s burnt wood and charcoal bricks from beach fires and BBQs dumped in the sand. I found many more of these ‘summer beach fire’ slicks along the beach, another reminder of the Summer visitors.

Thankfully Montara seems to have escaped lightly from the oil spill so far.
