I just dropped ComCast (yay!) in favor of DirecTV (which I love) and it was only after the fact that I found out our local Strawflower Electronics is a DirecTV installer.  Darn, I could have used local.

Katherine, what do you mean, “I could have used local?”  Doesn’t DirecTV contract with Strawflower to automatically send them out for our service installs?  Or?  Thanks in advance.

No, they don’t!  When I contacted DirecTV, the crew that came out were from the 510 area code.  So, to use Strawflower Electronics, you’d have to contact them directly and tell them you want DirecTV.  I wish I had known.

Now I know too - it’s a shame not to have known before I online ordered so that, like you said, I could have used Local.  =\  Hopefully other folks, thinking of changing, will see your post here and be able to use Strawflower to establish their service.

On another happy anti-Comcast note - I get the weekly outage’d Comcast service replaced by DSL this Friday!  My home will be Comcast-free.  :)
