ESL/Citizenship Instructor
THE POSITION
The ESL/Citizenship Instructor will teach English as a Second Language and Citizenship skills in English and Spanish (American History, Government, and Civics) to immigrant adults from the Coastside communities. ESL classes will focus on citizenship preparation. The current opening is 3 hours a week.
Responsibilities include:
Teach Citizenship Preparation and Civic Participation classes as assigned.
Develop interactive curriculum and prepare culturally appropriate teaching materials
Write monthly board reports
Write quarterly foundation reports
Provide appropriate referrals to immigration and citizenship legal caseworkers as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor?s Degree or Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language or related field; or equivalent work experience
Two years ESL, civic participation or citizenship teaching/training experience
Experience working with diverse populations, especially low-income Spanish-speaking immigrant families
Knowledge of citizenship preferred.
