Every year some students ‘celebrate’ graduation by burning their school books on the beach. I have seen this dim behavior happen like clockwork every year at Montara beach. This morning I picked up what was left of two separate fires, many textbooks, reference books and other school books where left in a charred pile to blow down the beach and cause a horrendous mess of litter.
The issue of trashing the beach aside, I thought schools were supposed to be short of cash? I’m guessing the books that were burned cost a fair sum of money as school books are not cheap, and now more money will need to be spent to replace them. I don’t understand the mentality behind this, even taking into consideration the dumb acts of some of our youth.
Make your parents proud kids.
