The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, features cacti & succulents collected by Mrs. Bancroft over many decades. The origins of the dry garden are traced back to Mrs. Bancroft?s visit to a friend?s garage sale, where she took home a couple of pots of succulents for the windowsill. Over 36 years, those few small pots led to a four-acre garden and a series of shade houses and greenhouses filled with thousands of succulents.
The mission of the Ruth Bancroft Garden, Inc. is to preserve this exceptional example of garden design and to continue to develop its collection of water-conserving plants for the education and enjoyment of the public.
There is a write up on Mr. Kemble and his work at the Ruth Bancroft Garden in this month?s VIA magazine, and the Half Moon Bay Garden Club is thrilled to have him as a featured speaker.
Drought tollerant gardening is important to the water-wise gardener. Many species of Cacti & Succulents thrive here on the coast!
