There is a quasi tomcat/Maine Coon that is stuck up in one of my trees over the last couple days (including sitting in the pouring rain). He/she won’t come down, and even the local FD couldn’t muster him down. If anyone has any lesser-known tricks… we’ve tried a bunch already, and it’s pretty freaked out, it only moves up vs. down.

Best way to catch him would be with a humane animal trap. But where would he be going next?

The Humane Society might come out to help you.  Wouldn’t hurt to give them a call.

Not sure how you fix a humane animal trap ~40 feet in the air… or any animal trap ... I even tried to lasso him down.

did all that… Humane Society was little help, as a matter of fact.

he sat through a third night of rain, and finally gave in and came down.

Thank you so much for all the work you did to help this cat! I am so relieved he came down from the tree. Have you posted signs around town to find the owner? Also, if that doesn’t work, I found a very good home on Craigslist for my rescued cat when I developed allergies to the cat. But the trick using Craigslist is to require a home visit and ask a certain amount of money to avoid people who are not true animal lovers. Also, I only searched on Craigslist on the coastside and Santa Cruz tabs. That way, I found a home in semi rural area that is safe away from busy streets. He ended up in a wonderful home in the redwoods near Los Gatos. But you have to patient to find just the right home. Thank you again for helping this poor cat!!

Sorry I did not reply, I visit this site very rarely.

I was going to suggest putting the trap (I have one) at the BOTTOM of the tree and baiting it with a smelly food like tuna. Most hungry cats will come down when they smell that. But I’m glad he came down on his own.

If you need help finding a home for kitty, you might try contacting Companions In Waiting.
