Blue Blanket Improv’s 2010 internship & scholarship program:

Process: Interested individuals should visit Blue Blanket Improv’s website (www.BlueBlanketImprov.com) and download the application.  After filling out the application they must e-mail the completed application, along with a photo to [email protected] for review.  Applicants are then contacted and provided with specific information relating to the audition time, date, and selection process.  Applicants need not have specific comedy theatre experience but must be creative, outgoing, and willing to commit to the process.  Any specific questions may be e-mailed to the above address.

Program Goal:  Community outreach to local High School aged young adults seeing to build skills and promote personal growth.  The program strives to provide the participants with professional level comedy improvisational theatre skills training.  Skills include: speaking in public, self confidence, thinking on your feet, thinking creatively, active listening, team building, accepting and progressing ideas, turn taking, verbal wit, storytelling, basic acting, stage presents, and verbal projection.  The expectation is that the participants will achieve the necessary skill level within this time period to be invited to perform with the main performance troupe on stage.

Participants Commitment:  Individuals will be expected to actively participate in weekly rehearsal/workshops every Tuesday evening (7 to 9 pm).  Participant will be expected to provide technical and creative support for monthly performances held the second Saturday of each month (7 to ~9:45 pm).  Some flexibility in the above time requirements will be available but should not be considered the norm.  Standard total commitment is for 3 months, but a participant may be invited to continue as a full time performer after that time.

Scholarship: At the conclusion of the internship, at least one participant will be selected to receive a collage scholarship.  This selection will be made by the performing members of the troupe and is based upon the participant’s demonstrated commitment and creative growth up to that time.  The amount will be paid for direct collage related expenses including, but not limited to, tuition, books, and housing only.  The recipient is encouraged to choose any area of study and this scholarship should not in any way limit the recipient’s options.  This year $500 will be awarded.  The amount to be awarded each year is contingent upon Blue Blanket Improv’s profits from local performances as well as other related fundraising activities (including donations).
