Wednesday’s Big Wave hearing likely to be delayed

Coastsider has learned that Wednesday night’s hearing on the Big Wave Final Environmental Impact Report will be postponed due to the lack of a quorum by the Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission will reschedule the hearing at its meeting Wednesday morning at 9am, and will consider whether to extend the comment period on the FEIR. However, it would be prudent to turn in comments by 5pm today, Tuesday, and revise or extend those comments if the comment period is extended.

Wednesday morning’s meeting is likely to draw large numbers of supporters and opponents in any event.

We’ll send out updates via Coastsider Alerts, so sign up for our email alerts for updated information.  We will also post updates to our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

UPDATE: The County Planning Director has issued the following statement, which unfortunately holds open the possibility that Wednesday’s hearing may still take place.

Coastsider will notify the community when we have the final word from the Planning Commission.

Due to unforseen circumstances, it is anticipated that the Planning Commission will not have a quorum for tomorrow night’s public hearing (Wednesday, 10/27/10, 6:00 p.m.) to consider the Big Wave Project.  The Planning Commission will be considering whether to cancel tomorrow night’s Planning Commission meeting and set a new date, time and location at their regular Planning Commission public hearing on Wednesday, 10/27/10, at 9:00 a.m. in the Board of Supervisor’s Chambers, Redwood City.

We will notify you again when the Planning Commission makes their decision.

On behalf of the San Mateo County Planning Commission, we apologize for this inconvenience.
