April 23, 2006
My cell phone is sprint pcs and it is still down as of 8:21PM Sunday night. My Dsl which I get through Sonic.net is also still down as of 8:21PM sunday night. I'm connected now with a dial up that has been working today since about noon. Thank you Barry for being a becon of light through coastsider under these trying times of the last few weeks. Imagine if we had to rely on the HMB review for any immediate information. Yes, we will probably get some inaccurate summary wednesday, or Thursday, or even…

Accident on Hwy 92 muddies impact of HMB’s emergency traffic measures

April 06, 2006
I live in Moss Beach and entered hwy 1 via the harbor light at 5:52 am. It was evident traffic was building rapidly but I made it thru the 92 light in 20 minuets. From yesterday and todays reports traffic after 6am is frightening and I would image it could start getting worse earlier as more people try to leave earlier to beat the mess.

Accident on Hwy 92 muddies impact of HMB’s emergency traffic measures

April 05, 2006
I left the Princeton area at 6:15 this morning 4/5/06 and the traffic was backed up southbound on hwy 1 the worst I have seen. It took 40 minutes to get through the light at 92 and hwy 1 from Princeton.

How good a neighbor is Mavericks?

February 10, 2006
When Mavericks started getting publicity and attention I thought it was pretty neat that a lot of people were finding out about such a wonderful place. However, the last two years have gotten totally out of control with far too many people impacting such a small and fragile environment. It’s also an inconvenience for the local residents that are impacted by the massive amounts of cars and disruption of their normal travel routines. You can bet Verizion and ABC’s bottom line is not the environment…

Please step away from the car

July 20, 2005
I’ve done a lot of hiking and backpacking around the US and abroad over the years. Once it dawned on me that silence has become extinct on the planet earth. Silence being the absence of human generated noises. Even in the remotest backcountry area’s you are bound to hear airplanes, motor bikes, ATV’s or some internal combustion intrusion on the senses. One of my favorite places on the coast is the old San Pedro Mountain road that used to be the motor route between Pacifica and Montara before…

Spring brings Sweet Peas back to Montara

April 17, 2005
I agree about the difference in the shopping experience between the large supermarkets and the independent stores such as Cuhna’s. Some other disturbing things about Albertson’s and Safeway are the playing of loud obnoxious music and running commercials, not to mention the stupid cards you must carry to get discounts on what they want to push. A recent article in the SF Gate http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/gate/archive/2005/04/15/notes041505.DTL&nl=fix By Mark Monford is a great read.…

A pedestrian is killed near HMB Airport

June 17, 2004
Hello, I think stories such as the incident on airport road and bodies washing up on the beach should be a high priority for your web site. Fortunately, these type incidents are rare, but I think local residents would like to be informed of these tragedies as well as less dramatic news worthy events. The Half Moon Bay review is woefully inadequate in reporting local news items because they are a weekly publication. Things of interest occur daily on the coast side and I believe we need a daily type…
