Coastsider endorses Jim Marsh for CCWD

November 03, 2005
re: HMBFPD - I know Voice of the Coast endorsed those two (which I agree with), however, I could care less about "Voice of the Coast." It is a sham. News? No, just not-so-cleverly disguised political advertising. " "so, are they [Ascher and Mickelsen] liars or damned liars?” I’ll let people make their own judgement about that." so in the meantime, you will decide to put out this out of context and clearly mis-analyzed information to disparage them? You seemed to drop any discussion of the pension…

fine, 7.5%. Still reasonable increases given the growing economy. Relating consumer inflation to a salary growth of a 17 person office is a little silly (especially given the historically low inflation rates over the past four years). "The parabolic increase in retirement plan payments is presumably driven by the need to address the district’s significantly underfunded but very generous retirement plan." So, the numbers are so shocking when they are presented out of context but now they are "presumably"…

Kevin, Isn't CCWD's retirement plan CALPERS and contributions are determined by an outside actuary? Salaries increased 6% (simple average) per year. Hardly something to quibble with, especially given that employee count has not changed (do you think it gets easier on existing employees to service an aging system?).

Coastsider endorses Ferreira, Grady, and Skinner

1. The windshield smasher needs to be strung up by their privates. 2. HMB Ranger - same responses I got. I guess dislike "no-growth" less than "anti-build anything." btw - I am not angry about anything that has to do with Coastside politics. 3. If Grady/Ferriera can put up a sign at by Santa's tree farm that says something to the effect of "What if the developers win on the Coastside?" and they are backed by developers (Ocean Colony Partners at this point is the only public support - are there more?),…

Nice try. Go back to my original response. Barry didn't set this up as a forum for calling people names, restofleast. You have an opinion, share it. Otherwise, do us a favor and go back to looking up definitions on websites.

no, we were talking about the constituents in general, not the actual elected officials. OCP endorsement is great for those two but what does that mean for the little guy? It feels like something is going on behind the curtain once again (of course, that is politics, right?). I guess we will have to see what the fallout from the school board's (in)action will be re: Wavecrest.

Concerned HMB Citizen, "There is a buzz going around the coastside these days because ordinary citizens have had enough of this, and are angry and cynical. Many of us are in favor of open space, oppose urban sprawl, but believe that existing homeowners are being very unfairly treated." We all know that the very small, very vocal minority that makes up the anti-build anything crowd are vastly outnumbered by the people that you speak of. Hopefully that majority gets organized and tempers the influence…

Kathryn, Nice non-answers. "Yes, I do listen to Sussman." Uhhh...the question was "did you listen to the show?" that show, the one with Muteff??? another dodge - "If Sussmans guests have their way we will look like Roseville..,neighborhoods virtually indistinguisable one from the other. I suppose Naomi and Bonnie have that same point of view..." You really think they want HMB to look like Roseville? Honestly? You go back to Measure D non-support to try to make a long circle around to them wanting…

Kathryn, Did you listen to the show? Do you know for a fact that Sussman promised to have "possibly Naomi and Bonnie on as future guests." How about this one - is the simply innuendo, or is this fact? "I suppose Naomi and Bonnie have that same point of view, both having been opposed to keeping the middle school at Cunha." If you are trying to be clever in an attempt to cut down people you do not agree with, you failed miserably. And please do not assume I agree with either you or any of the people…

"...where to walk, drive OTVs and ATVs, and ride horses. This is an amazingly lame analysis because those things do not belong on our beaches." Have you been appointed to the committee of what is allowed and not allowed on OUR beaches? You didn't include dogs but I am sure you are against them too.

need to use the search feature at the County Times archives. search "half AND moon AND bay AND city" Probably have to pay for it if you want to see it at this point. Maybe Barry knows of another way to share it.
