Gay wedding business opens on the Coastside

July 19, 2008
Deb, Once again you have stated my own thoughts completely and beautifully. Bravo to you and the others on this post who have responded to those who are so fearful that they cannot embrace the happiness of others. Mary

Coastside election results

November 07, 2007
Keith, I told my husband who was an Inspector at his polling place........he does that every election.......and he said that all Inspectors and Judges are asked to bring flash-lights with them to the polling place for just such an eventuality. He said his polling place was equipped with 3 flash-lights.....but they were lucky enough not to have lost power. Mary

Coastsider endorses Donovan, Taborski, and Silva for HMB Fire and Williams for Pt Montara

October 30, 2007
Barry, I agree wholeheartedly with your endorsements for fire boards on the Coastside and for many of the same reasons. Mary

POST is buying Wavecrest

August 27, 2007
In response to Bill Hedrix's post: "...For the Editor to post accusations of trolling, if people express their concerns about current events, seems odd; Why allow any comments at all? Or is the whole point to deliver a network where only one side of an equation can be expressed? Any others deemed void by attacking the poster rather than the content of the post..." Yes, Bill....you're right! That is why many of us on the Coastside refer to this web site as "Barry's Blog".......because he will always…

Video Column: Right Here In The Middle

February 06, 2007
Neil.......I agree with everything you have to say! As a real estate agent, I can't tell you how many prospective buyers have said to me....."I just want to build a small house on a small lot....I don't want anything big". And, these prospective Coastside residents fall into one of two categories: either the young single or couple who are just starting out and want something affordable, but new.....built to their liking... or they are future oriented retirees....who are still living and working "over…

Environmentalists didn’t kill Measure S

July 28, 2006
All good questions........and I'm relieved that you're going to stop putting words in my mouth. Remember......I only participated in your blog because you chose to put words in my mouth and then editorialize over my responses. I'm done here.

Environmentalists didn’t kill Measure S

Barry........Here is what I said on your blog on June 5: The following comment was posted by Mary Ascher on Jun 05, 06 | 10:12 am I echo Ray Olson and the others who have stated their unwavering support for our future decision makers, aka our community’s children, by supporting Measure S. Our school board members and the parents of our community as well as hundreds of other volunteers are truly making a difference by coming forth with suggestions and plans to improve one of the most important aspects…

Environmentalists didn’t kill Measure S

July 28, 2006
[Part 2 of 2 parts] Much has been written on Barry's Blog about CCF--Coastside Community First. This set of beliefs is what we are all about.......we want to, in every case where an important political decision is made, put the community first and balance whatever the community needs with whatever it takes to preserve and protect our fragile environment. Put Community First, a PAC, has only supported one issue since its inception: Proposition S. Although many in the group were disappointed that the…

Environmentalists didn’t kill Measure S

[Part 1 of 2 parts] Thank you Mary Bordi and Brian Ginna.....you beat me to the punch. As I read Barry's blog where he responded to a letter to the Editor in the Half Moon Bay Review, our local newspaper, and not this venue, I was struck by the fact that of the 12 comments to his blog/article Barry submitted 4 or 5 of them. I also noticed that his tone appears to violate his own "civility" policy. But the most blatent violation of any semblance of journalistic integrity is that his whole blog, as…

Photos: “Private” fireworks show in Princeton Harbor

July 06, 2006
Right on, Risa....... I was also surprised to see the Coastsider.com cover this as a good thing for the community. No one complained about lack of permits. No one complained about disobeying the law. We're lucky no one was hurt and I'm thankful for that. But there were lots of legal fireworks displays around.........and we're going to have the American Legion do this next year. Who was responsible? Mary

Coastsider endorses Leland Yee for state senate

May 24, 2006
OK......I'll play! I'm a Democrat who is supporting Mike Nevin. Mary

Senate and Supervisor candidates will appear at Wednesday’s MCC meeting

Coastsider endorses Measure S

June 05, 2006
I echo Ray Olson and the others who have stated their unwavering support for our future decision makers, aka our community's children, by supporting Measure S. Our school board members and the parents of our community as well as hundreds of other volunteers are truly making a difference by coming forth with suggestions and plans to improve one of the most important aspects of our Coastside infrastructure......our schools. Contrary to what most people think.......this community has never done anything…

Caltrans will hold next public update in Pacifica on May 10

May 09, 2006
Grant Wilcox, Senior Engineering Geologist on the Slide repair project, explains how how the Devil’s Slide geology works, why it is so unstable, how it was repaired in 1995, why Caltrans has temporarily suspended activity on the Slide, and why Caltrans can’t simply build a bridge over the damaged portion of the Slide. This is the best explanation that we have seen of the geology and dynamics of the slide. If you want to understand what’s happening, you must watch this video. Wilcox spoke Wednesday…

Caltrans will hold next public update in Pacifica on May 10

May 09, 2006
In response to Linda's comments, I think Caltrans will go wherever they've been invited....so far they've been to the HMB City Council and, I think to the Midcoast Council. In fact I think I recall that there was a video up on this website from that MCC meeting. Am I right? Mary

Caltrans will hold next public update in Pacifica on May 10

May 09, 2006
This morning, Keyhan Moghbel, Caltrans, gave a very informative update to the Coastside Realtors on the Devil's Slide situation........with questions, it lasted an hour. I'm sure it has been posted here before, but the website that carries up to date info on the repairs is www.dot.ca.gov/dist4 and, for specific questions, his email address is: [email protected] The situation is very complex, and needs to be done correctly (aka: slowly) in order to make the road safe again. Take the time to…
