Capitulation??? Cowtowing to the agencies???? I think those of us south of hwy92, such as myself, did a pretty good job of controlling the heavy-handed authorities with respect to preventing the traffic control light on the northbound access to hwy92 being activated. Carl May states "You are letting them know the impacts on you were not all that trying, thanks to your ready willingness to forgive, forget, and party because a bad situation imposed on you wasn’t worse." Considering all the e-mails and calls to Caltrans as well as to HMB City Council, I hardly think that they are not aware of how trying this ordeal has been. With respect to the "willingness to forgive, forget and party", this behavior is what makes America, meaning the USA, as Great as it is.…

Mr. Dantes, Using your logic, punish the merchants as a result of action/inaction by elected officials that I happen to disagree with, I would not be able to shop anywhere, certainly not Sacramento or Washington DC. But wait, the merchants that sent the politiicans to Sacramento are all over California, off to Nevada. Opps, some of the merchants in Nevada, and every other state helped put someone in the whitehouse that I think should have been back in TX in the first place. I guess its off to Canada.…

As a resident of HMB, I make every effort to visit businesses north of HMB, especially now. However, attitudes expressed by Mr.’s Steger and Dantes with respect to not shopping in HMB because Caltrans wont turn on a light that Caltrans data indicates is not needed, may cause me to rethink this. Actually it wont, I will not let the opinions of a few bitter individuals interfere with my support of midcoast businesses. Some people need to get over the fact that the light will not be on anytime soon,…

Caltrans is less certain a new traffic light is needed

June 07, 2006
Wait there has to be a misprint. How does estimated commute go from 31 to 7 minutes between 6am and 7am and then decrease to 8 minutes from 12 minutes between 7am and 8am? At 7am something majic happens where without light current commute magically drops from 31 to 12 minutes? Numbers make no sense at all, is calrans publishing the report?

Caltrans is less certain a new traffic light is needed

Perhaps there was no mid-coast representation at HMB city council as 99.99% of mid-coaster's realize traffic has gotten better, that the light is not needed and they have moved on to other issues and not simmerred in sour grapes. As I was not at meeting not sure where caltrans got the numbers, but I have not seen anything close to 31 minutes from Montara to HMB on the org.511 site. At 6:30am this morning it said 12 minutes.

I suspect that a number of people took the whole week off, taking advantage of the holiday. It will be interesting to see what the numbers look like next week and after schools all get out. Thanks for posting the data Kevin.

Caltrans gives HMB a chance to discuss traffic light

May 24, 2006
Has Caltrans, or anyone for that matter, provided any data, or at least estimates, as to how the metering light will actually affect the north and south bound commutes? Is it plausible that restricting the northbound access could increase that commute by 30 minutes while reducing the south bound access by several minutes due to other choke points? I would be more than willing to increase my commute time to a reasonable degree if I knew that it was going to in fact decrease the commute for those headed…
