Letter: Fourth of July Spy

Here's the article, published under my pseudonym, back in the day when I thought that might protect me. LOL. http://www.counterpunch.org/lake08202005.html

Letter: Fourth of July Spy

Some people have asked me what harm this sad, angry old man caused. I replied: He worked really hard at ruining the day for us volunteers, who were happy to give our time to make sure that ALL citizens who wished to register were given the opportunity. He may have stopped some people from registering by spreading the slander that we were only registering Democrats. As anyone who has been paying attention for the last 40 years knows, voter turnouts are low here in the USA. I can only conclude that…

Nothing makes right wingers madder than ignoring their illogical arguments and smears. We speculate online that they get paid by the number of replies they receive.

Landowners sue HMB, saying Oak Avenue Park is on their property

Kindly take a look at the GOP Public Forum and Chatroom Handbook to see where the right wing goes for lessons in rhetoric. The original was obtained at a church festival in the midwest and sent to me in .pdf format. Here, I transcribed it, complete with misspellings and grammatical errors, for your edification. http://fact-based.blogspot.com/2006/01/gop-chat-room-rules.html This site is famous in the political chat world :) I have the .pdf available for inspection.

Half Moon Bay recount begins Monday morning; and a lesson about headline-writing

December 13, 2005
I understand how newspapers work. The deal is that if they have a monopoly, they should be accountable to all residents of the area, or they should lose their monopoly. I am dismayed in the extreme that Americans haven't even noticed that we have given away, without compensation, our basic rights to an open public forum. For example, the airwaves technically belong to the American people, but they are controlled by about 6 corporations who all have interlocking interests in keeping information out…

I was trying to be diplomatic, as a newcomer to the community. The HMB Review is a strange operation tho. Refused to run any announcements for Coastside Democrats, even an announcement of the Coastside Dem holiday party, which it specifically agreed to do. They state that they have a policy of not running announcements for political party meetings. I find that shocking especially since the purpose of the media is to keep people informed about events, especially those that relate to their welfare…

Add to this possible bias on the part of the Review: when the election was still up in the air, the photos of McClung and MacKimmie were the only ones featured on the front page of the paper, not all four candidates whose fates still hung in the balance.

Only 8 votes separate Ferreira and McClung; one vote separates King and McKimmie

I placed signs in legal locations for Grady, Ferreira, and Skinner. They were stolen within two days.

I have been voting for 30 years. I had to vote on a provisional ballot because they did not send my absentee ballot as requested. The poll workers assured me that it would be counted. Looks like they have been mistaken. "The County Elections office won’t say how many (provisional) ballots remain or how long it will take to finish counting, but they hope to finish by Friday." For the record, I voted for Ferreira. +1

What do you want to tell Assemblyman Leland Yee?

November 16, 2005
Tell Assemblyman Yee that he must stand firm against the neofascist onslaught. Or if he can't handle the direct language, you could use the term right-wing extremists. They are determined to destroy all human progress in the name of corporate profits. Example, the "Special Election." State Sen. Liz Figueroa said it was going to be grim in Sacramento regardless of the outcome of the election. The first thing Arnie does, after his "Special Election" ($300 million US dollar tab), is run off to China…

Patridge, Grady, and Ferreira elected to HMB City Council

I see that its time to disengage from this discussion.

I always find that those without fact-based logical arguments resort to ad hominems. A lack of knowledge and understanding of the current political climate in the USA is no excuse for a personal attack.

Just a note. I did not even imply that Naomi won based on anger or greed. I am talking about those who support the neoconservative agenda, who did not win. Those who think profits are more important than people. Those people aren't "balanced" at all.

Scare tactics? I am not scared by the LCP. I am scared by property rights fundamentalists and those who think that the highest needs of a complex society can be fulfilled by using one of the seven deadly sins: greed. The ends are never achieved by using tainted means, unless the ends are to be tainted themselves.
