Advance Screening of “Last Call at the Oasis” Thursday at the Brewing Company

Following the ground-breaking documentaries “An Inconvenient Truth”, “Food, Inc.” and “Waiting for Superman,” Participant Media now turns its attention to the water crisis with the new film, “Last Call at the Oasis.” A rallying cry to ignite a national conversation about the water crisis, “Last Call at the Oasis” illuminates the vital role water plays in our lives, exposes the defects in the current system and shows communities already struggling with its ill-effects.  Featuring activist Erin Brockovich, respected water experts including Peter Gleick, Jay Famiglietti and Robert Glennon and social entrepreneurs championing revolutionary solutions, the film posits that we can manage this problem if we are willing to act now.
Lynn Hirshfield, the senior vice president of publishing at Participant Media, will participate in a Q & A moderated by Lenny Mendonca, the founder of the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company and director at McKinsey & Company, immediately following the film.

With ATO Pictures opening “Last Call at the Oasis” in theaters in May 2012, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is honored to be able to host this advance screening at Mavericks Event Center.

Admission to the screening is complimentary, but advance reservations are required and seating is limited. $20 includes the screening and a special Mavericks “Bento Box” Dinner prepared by Chef Gaston Alfaro of the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. Every “Bento Box” includes Mavericks Cole Slaw and Potato Salad along with one of the following gourmet focaccia sandwiches:

topped with mixed greens and a honey-lime vinaigrette

Vegan Roasted Vegetable Roasted vegetables with a splash of balsamic vinegar,
topped with mixed greens and a vegetarian basil pesto

House Smoked Tri-Tip with a roasted garlic blue cheese spread, topped with mixed greens

A portion of the proceeds from all dinner sales for this event will be donated to the Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve.
