Airport Agencies Oppose Big Wave Project

It seems every agency with responsibility for the operational safety of the HMB Airport has weighed in against the Big Wave Project, from SM County Dept of Public Works Airports Div, to CalTrans Aeronautics Div, to the FAA, as well as various pilots associations.

Of major concern is the incompatible use of the Wellness Center so close to the airport runway, which could jeopardize millions of dollars in federal funding for the airport.

Also of concern are the lack of any study of wind turbulence effects of the tall office buildings near the runway and inadequate noise studies in the EIR.

Residents of Pillar Ridge have endured airport noise without complaint since 1963, but it doesn’t seem fair that the tall Office Park buildings will reflect and amplify airport noise into our community from a new direction.
