Due to the disaster in Japan, the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support was created by three local animal shelters in Japan to rescue animals who have been hurt or are homeless by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan March 11, 2011 and its aftermath. You can find their link on Facebook or Google. They are giving up to date information of the rescue efforts by their team of vets and other assistants. They are also currently trying to confirm that the two dogs stranded, one staying by the other who is hurt, on the video that is circulating the internet and news, have been rescued. Their agency plus The Red Cross are worth donating to.
