Mark Battey to Chair $7 Million Fundraising Campaign to Build Coastside Adult Community Center
New building will house Senior Coastsiders and the Coastside Adult Day Health Center
HALF MOON BAY, Calif., May 11, 2005 - Miramar resident Mark Battey will chair the Coastside Adult Community Center Capital Campaign Committee. The committee’s goal is to raise $7 million to construct a 23,000 square foot building in Half Moon Bay that will house Senior Coastsiders and the Coastside Adult Day Health Center.
Battey is managing director of Miramar Capital, LLC, which provides financial, strategic planning and management consulting services. Following success as managing director of Essex Environmental, an environmental consulting firm that he founded in 1988 and sold in 2002, Battey was chief deputy controller and senior policy advisor to State Controller Steve Westly.
Battey is also board chairman of Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition, one of Northern California’s leading non-profit sponsors and developers of assisted rental housing for low- and moderate-income families, seniors, single adults, and persons with special needs. He has also served on the board of the California State Teachers Retirement System.
The committee chair has a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master of science from the London School of Economics, and a master of business administration from Stanford University. Battey, 45, is married to Jayne Battey, who is executive director of the Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council. They have three children.
"For nearly 25 years Senior Coastsiders and the Coastside Adult Day Health Center have been providing outstanding services to older and disabled members of our community," Battey said. "I am eager to chair this capital campaign committee because there is already great momentum for the Coastside Adult Day Community Center, a much-needed facility that will enable both organizations to expand their services to a growing population."
The organizations have already raised $2.2 million and own a 1.6 acre site on the corner of Main Street and Arnold Way, adjacent to the Lesley Gardens senior residence.
