Coastside Fire Protection District candidate forum Thursday Feb 14th.
The Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a candidate forum for the Coastside Fire Protection District on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 7-9 pm at the Ted Adcock Community Center, 535 Kelly Avenue, Half Moon Bay 94019.
The League of Women Voters of North and Central San Mateo County will provide the moderator, timekeeper and other personnel and will use League procedures in conducting the forum. The sponsors neither support nor endorse the recall or any candidate for the office and all candidates, including the board members of the Coastside Fire Protection District who are subject to recall, have been invited to participate.

so is this discussion on February 14 or March 14? we do need this recall election, Half MOON BAY cannot afford a ‘stand alone’ fire district neither do our neighbors to the north or south…

Fire districts in California with a fraction the population of HMB or the midcoast communities have ongoing independent fire districts of many years duration, thus maintaining the local control that can fit services to a location. The numbers presented by the recall and anti-recall sides in public meetings so far are incomplete and speculative, so one gets a mixture of apples and oranges set up to favor a point of view rather than a set of comprehensive facts and both short-term and long-term projections.

The Midcoast Community Council is also trying to schedule a candidate forum for later this month—which would be better located for those of us in the midcoast communities with no compelling connection to HMB.

There is a local posting community discussing this exact same topic on http://www.circlesavvy.com
I am hoping to learn more and understand which way to vote.
This is important stuff.
Thank you
