HMB Police blotter: April 20 to 21
A freshman gym teacher’s assistant at HMB High School was caught charging $5 a quarter to let students skip showers after class. The cops describe it as "possible extortion", but the culprit was convinced to return the money. Police assisted a laundromat patron who was unable to remove her clothes from a washing machine for four hours. And somebody keyed a car. Click for more true crime.

0578 04/21 0700 SB SR1 @ N Main 12500(A) 16028(A)VC Officer on patrol observed vehicle fail to stop at a red light, and performed traffic stop. The driver was found to be unlicensed and uninsured and was cited and released on his promise to appear in court. Male Age 35 Of HMB
0579 09/01-04/22 HMBHS 601 W&I An officer was dispatched to the high school on a report of possible extortion. A 9th grade teacher’s assistant for a PE class had accepted $5 from eight students so the students would not have to shower for the entire quarter. The suspect agreed to return the money to the students.
0580 04/21 2120 San Mateo Rd 10-99I Officer dispatched to a Laundromat on the report of a washing machine malfunctioning making the user unable to remove her clothes for four hours. The business owner was contacted to assist the citizen.
0581 04/22 0008 EB Medio @ SR1 23152(A)VC23222(B)VC22350 VC13353 VC Officer on patrol observed vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and performed traffic stop. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and refused to perform field sobriety tests. A small plastic bag was found under the driver’s side that contained a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana while driving, speeding, and refusal to complete chemical testing. He was transported to First Chance. 0583 04/21-04/222200-0650 Oak Ave 594(A)(1)PC Office responded to report of vandalism to a vehicle. Unknown suspect(s) scratched the tailgate of a truck, with what appeared to be a key or similar instrument.
