Work Song, Kenny Werner Quintet Live in Mexico 2011

Kenny Werner is a world-class pianist and composer whose prolific compositions, recordings and publications continue to impact audiences around the world and influence an entire generation of musicians and artists. “a pianist who tempers fearsome technique with a questing spiritualism” –Nate Chinen, NY Times.

Kenny was recently awarded the 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship Award for his seminal work, No Beginning No End, a profound tribute to his 16-year-old daughter killed in a 2006 car crash, that is on the level of such other extended jazz composers as Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus. As a teacher, Kenny’s groundbreaking work on Improvisation, Effortless Mastery – Liberating the Master Musician Within, touched off a revolution of inspiring musicians to create music conscious of its spiritual intent and essence. “Kenny Werner is a total musician. He feeds my heart and my brain and pushes me into fresh territories.”- Toots Thielemans.
