Yes, it has been a cold day. The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory through Friday afternoon for areas about 1,000 feet, including Skyline Blvd:

Snow levels will drop to 1000 feet overnight. Expect around 1 inch of snow at 1000 feet with 3 to 6 inches at 000 feet or higher. Snow levels this low will affect many highways and secondary roads including highway 29 in napa county…Skyline boulevard...Highway 17 and highway 152 near pacheco pass. Expect roadways to become snow covered and slick overnight.

.An unseasonably cold storm will bring snow showers to all of the area hills tonight through friday afternoon. A strong cold front will move into the north bay early this evening with snow levels starting out around 2000 feet. Snow levels will drop to 1000 feet and locally to 500 feet in heavier showers. The area of snow showers will then spread southward through the bay area hills this evening reaching the hills of monterey county overnight. Expect snow totals of around 1 inch at 1000 feet with 3 to 6 inches above 3000 feet.

The national weather service in san francisco has issued a snow advisory…Which is in effect from 6 pm this evening to 4 pm pst friday.

Snow showers will develop in the north bay hills above 2000 feet this evening and then spread into the east bay and santa cruz mountains tonight. Snow levels will drop to 1000 feet overnight. Expect around 1 inch of snow at 1000 feet with 3 to 6 inches at 000 feet or higher. Snow levels this low will affect many highways and secondary roads including highway 29 in napa county…Skyline boulevard…Highway 17 and highway 152 near pacheco pass. Expect roadways to become snow covered and slick overnight.

Snow showers will diminish for a time friday morning but then increase again around midday and through the afternoon hours in the hills as another disturbance passes over the region.

In addition…Snowfall may bring down tree branches and power lines causing power outages. Locally strong winds will cause areas of blowing snow with reduced visibility.

A snow advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities…And use caution while driving.
