Pacifica community shuttle to begin service October 30
The Gold Line Service, the new community shuttle service for Pacifica, will begin service on Monday, October 30th to provide residents in and around the Linda Mar area of Pacifica with enhanced mid-day service. This is the first phase of a two-part community service that is planned for Pacifica residents.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Gold Line service will be held on Monday, October 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Center, 540 Crespi Drive. Mayor Sue Digre and Council Member Jim Vreeland, who is also the current Chair of the Board of Directors of City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) of San Mateo County, will be participating in the ceremony. In addition, Council Member, Julie Lancelle, who was a part of the stakeholder group to plan and implement the shuttle service, may also be attending. Refreshments will be provided. Based on survey responses to a recent community survey, three-fourths of residents indicated the need for service in and around the Linda Mar area of Pacifica.
This free shuttle service is provided by C/CAG of San Mateo County to fund a demonstration shuttle project. Based on the funding approved by C/CAG’s Board of Directors, there is funding available for additional service. The shuttle stakeholder group will be providing more input to launch the second phase of the service in early 2007 to address additional transportation needs of the community.
Parking Company of America Management will be providing the shuttle service and the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance will be managing the service. The Alliance will be the contact for any questions riders may have and the Alliance’s contact information will be included on the Gold Line shuttle.
The Gold Line Service will follow the SamTrans 14 stops throughout the Linda Mar area on a counter-clockwise and clock-wise basis. Service will begin at 9:00 a.m. from Linda Mar Park and Ride lot and service will run until 2:30 p.m. The Gold Line service will provide residents with transportation approximately every 30 minutes, enhancing the SamTrans 14 service. All stops along the SamTrans 14 service route will be utilized.
The shuttle schedule and route will be available as of Monday, 10/23, on the Alliance’s website. Printed schedules will also be provided to City buildings in Pacifica as well to interested merchants. You can also request a copy by contacting the Alliance, PH: 650/588-8170 or email: [email protected].
