In November, Pacifica Gardens will begin an innovative approach to fundraising: an online auction. Garden supporters can visit the fundraising auction’s website at http://pacifica-gardens.org/auction2009 and bid on goods and services donated by the local merchant community.

The premier item up for auction is a day of sailing on San Francisco Bay. Other auction items range from services like massages, personal training sessions, manicures, and haircuts to goods such as gift baskets, clothing, and gift certificates. The auction will run from November 1-30, after which the high bidders will be notified and can make arrangements to claim the items they have won.

Proceeds go directly to Pacifica Gardens, a project of Pacifica’s Environmental Family (a nonprofit) that is transforming the old soccer field at Linda Mar Educational Center into a 30,000 square foot mini-agricultural project. The project features biointensive food gardens, a permacultural food forest, native plants, culinary and medicinal herbs, a fruit tree mini-orchard, and large-scale composting. New volunteers are always welcome. See website for garden workdays. http://www.pacifica-gardens.org.
