Pacifica Peace People and Veterans for Peace a sponsoring an evening of music and readings honoring peace and veterans Saturday, November 11, 7 to 10pm.  Country Joe McDonald, Bay Area musician known for many contributions including his "I Feel Like I’m Fixin’ To Die Rag," performs along with Joe "Hippie Billy" Paquin, formerly of country-and-western band Swift Current, and The Sundogs.  Jim Janko, author of Buffalo Boy and Geronimo, rounds out the evening with readings from his work, from the point of view of Vietnam-era GIs and Vietnamese civilians.

All veterans, the artists gather for an evening of inspiration and compassion in honor of veterans and in search of a more peaceful world. Country Joe McDonald is a Navy veteran, musician, and activist. Formerly of Country Joe and the Fish, he has had a long career of music and advocacy for numerous causes including the plight of veterans. Joe Paquin, ex-Marine Vietnam-era vet and cancer survivor, most recently has been performing solo, and spent 10 years with the country-and-western band Swift Current, and 17 years with The Sundogs. Currently, his "Hippie Billy" music seeks to make its way into the hearts of American roots music lovers. Jim Janko, Vietnam era Army medic, was compelled by his experiences in Vietnam, his love of the natural world, and his desire for peace to write Buffalo Boy and Geronimo. He has published other noted works, and teaches at City College of San Francisco.

The event is sponsored by Pacifica Peace People and Veterans for Peace. All proceeds will benefit peace efforts.
