Press release

By on Wed, November 3, 2010

The California Department of Parks and Recreation is planning to ignite a 319 acre prescribed burn at Big Basin State Park starting November 5 and continuing for the next two weeks as conditions allow.

It is expected that this fire will continue to burn until extinguished by winter rains.

This Burn is being conducted to reduce the threat of wildfire and to enhance natural resources within the park. The Meteor and Hollow Tree trails from the north escape Rd. to Middle Ridge Fire Road will be closed during the burn. Middle Ridge Rd. and Johanson Rd. may also be closed for a few days during the burn.
