Coastside Community First is mailing a brochure by the US Geological Survey called "Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country to Coastside households, along with a list of emergency shelters. They’ve sent us the information as well. You can download the brochure from Coastsider or the USGS. You can see the emergency shelter list by clicking on the link below.

Emergency shelters

If you and your family are unable to remain in your home, or with friends or neighbors because of damage caused by the earthquake, there are emergency shelters available to help you.

The American Red Cross lists the following coastside shelters:

  • Half Moon Bay High School
  • Pescadero High School
  • Adcock Community Center, HMB
  • Bell Building/New Hall/Old Hall, HMB
  • Cabrillo Unified School District Office, HMB
  • El Granada Elementary School
  • Farallone View Elementary School, Montara
  • Hatch Elementary School, HMB
  • Kings Mountain Elementary School
  • Kings Mountain Emergency Group
  • La Honda Elementary School
  • La Honda Neighborhood Emergency Association
  • Pescadero Elementary School
  • Seton Medical Center Coastside
  • YMCA Camp Loma Mar

A shelter is opened (1) when the Red Cross is notified by local emergency officials and (2) in consultation with the shelter sponsoring agency.  Try to ascertain which shelters are open before going to one.  Not all shelters are likely to be open at once. Shelter designations may change from time to time.
