Sea Crest School has notified parents and others that its Head of School, John Wilson, and Assistant Head of School, Sue Reyneri, have resigned effective June 30, 2004. In a letter to school families, the school’s president noted:

This no doubt comes as a surprise to many.  As you reflect on this remember that Sea Crest School has grown a tremendous amount in its young history and needs to continue to grow to new levels.  John and Sue have both contributed to Sea Crest’s growth and their efforts and achievements are recognized and appreciated.

The Board plans to hire an interim management team for the next school year, while the search for a new Head of School is conducted. There will be a meeting for people interested in the changes at 7:30 tonight in Sea Crest room 17. Board members will be on hand to answer questions.

Changes at Sea Crest School

With regret, the Sea Crest School Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of John Wilson, the Head of School, effective June 30, 2005.  Additionally, the Board of Directors announces that Sue Reyneri, the Assistant Head of School, will also be leaving the school effective June 30, 2005.

The school is in the process of establishing our full strategic road map with the 2010 Strategic Plan.  The next administration will work to achieve the goals of this plan.

One goal for the future is to broaden the team approach with the teachers, which has been successful in the establishment of grade level teams, and has moved our instructional program forward.  The teachers and staff are to be commended for being a model of effective team work and demonstrating what it can accomplish.

The Board of Directors recognizes and respects the professional and personal decisions made by John Wilson.  Again, we appreciate the efforts that John and Sue have given.  The Board of Directors is in full support of John and Sue through the remaining school year and likewise, we ask that everyone in the school continue to support both of them.  We wish them well in their future endeavors.

This is another transition for Sea Crest School and the Board of Directors is dedicated to ensuring that this transition is as smooth as possible.  Please be assured that all the aspects of Sea Crest School that we value - our academic program, the dedicated faculty and staff and the exceptional facility - will not be affected.  The excellent work of our teachers will continue.  Changes are part of the school’s maturation and we will continue to grow and become a stronger school.

The Board’s plans are to hire an interim management team for the next school year.  We will also conduct a search to hire a Head of School, who will then form an excellent administrative team.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition.  Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information or to express your concerns.

Sincerely,

Joel White

President

Board of Directors
