A hit-and-run on Highway 92 by a juvenile DUI who says, “I didn’t mean to hit that guy; is he OK?”, someone in El Granada had four tires punctured, a rock was thrown through a kitchen window in Moss Beach, an unlocked car was liberated of $20, a DUI in Montara and in El Granada and in Miramar, two cases of public drunkenness in Pillar Point Harbor, a woman needing a psychiatric evaluation walking on Highway 1 in Miramar, a felony warrant arrest in El Granada, a theft from a home in Moss Beach, an office chair thrown through a window on Airport, domestic violence in Moss Beach, keys stolen from a car in Moss Beach, a car is broken into at Pescadero State Beach, a possible hazardous material drum in Princeton turns out to be benign, and a burglary arrest in Princeton (covered earlier on Coastsider).

El Granada, #06-1060
Sometime between 1800 hours on 2/16/06 and 0800 hours on 2/17/06 an unknown suspect punctured all four tires of the victim’s car while it was parked in his driveway on Sonora Avenue.  The cost of the damage is unknown at this time.

Moss Beach, #06-1063
On 2/17/06 at approximately 0300 hours, an unknown suspect threw a rock through the victim’s kitchen window.  The suspect fled the scene prior to Deputies arriving.

Theft from a vehicle – 484 PC (Misdemeanor)
2/05/06, 0900 hours
Moss Beach, #06-1065

Sometime during the early morning of 2/05/06 an unknown suspect took twenty dollars from the victim’s unlocked car on Tierra Alta Street in Moss Beach.  The victim reported the crime 2/17/06 at The Sheriff’s Office North Coast sub-station.

DUI Arrest – 23152(a) CVC (Misdemeanor)
2/18/06, 0058 hours
Montara, #06-1075
[name withheld], 36 of Montara was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  He was stopped on Main Street and Ninth Street in Montara for several vehicle code violations.  When the Deputy spoke to him, he noticed several signs of [name withheld] being under the influence of alcohol.  Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and he was arrested for driving under the influence (Misdemeanor).

DUI Arrest – 23152(a) CVC (Misdemeanor)
2/18/06, 0121 hours
El Granada, #06-107[name withheld], 30 of Burlingame was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  He was stopped on Highway One in El Granada for throwing a glass bottle from his vehicle.  When the Deputy spoke to [name withheld], he informed the deputy that he was on a beer run for a party he was attending.  The Deputy noticed several signs of [name withheld] being under the influence of alcohol.  Several Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and he was then arrested for driving under the influence (Misdemeanor).

Drunk in public – 647(f) PC (misdemeanor)
2/18/06, 0136 hours
Pillar Point Harbor, #06-1080
[name withheld], 23 of Half Moon Bay and [name withheld], 27 of San Francisco were both arrested for being drunk in public at the Pillar Point Harbor.  Deputies responded to a call of a man urinating in front of the retail stores at The Pillar Point Harbor.  When Deputies arrived they found both men very intoxicated and unable to care for themselves.  Both men were arrested and booked into The Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City for being drunk in public (Misdemeanor) and they were released when they sobered up.

Half Moon Bay, #06-1082
[name withheld]. 51 of Half Moon Bay was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  [name withheld] was stopped for speeding on Highway One in Miramar.  When the Deputy made contact with [name withheld]; the Deputy noticed several signs of intoxication.  Several Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and [name withheld] was then arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (Misdemeanor). 

Drunk in Public – 647(f) PC (Misdemeanor)
2/18/06, 0550 hours
Pillar Point harbor, #06-1084  

    [name withheld], 55 of El Granada was arrested for public intoxication.  Deputies responded to The Pillar Point Harbor on the call of a drunken woman near the fishing boats.  Deputies contacted her and determined she was unable to care for herself.  She was arrested for Public Intoxication (Misdemeanor) and booked into The Maguire Correctional facility in Redwood City.  She was released when she was sober enough to care for herself.


Mental Health Evaluation – 5150 W&I

Miramar, #06-1086
A Deputy contacted a 19 year old woman walking on Highway One just south of Miramar.  The woman told the Deputy “I am looking for a horse to ride to Florida.”  The Deputy asked the woman if she would like a ride to the Sheriff’s Office north Coast sub-station where they could get her some help.  The woman was transported to The North Coast sub-station where San Mateo County mental health professionals were contacted.  The woman was then transported to San Mateo County General Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Warrant Arrest (Felony Warrant)

El Granada, #06-1106
[name withheld], 22 of Half Moon Bay was arrested on a felony bench warrant for being a Parolee at large from The California Department of Corrections.  Deputies contacted several people sitting in a vehicle at the corner of Francisco Street and Ferdinand Avenue in El Granada.  [name withheld] was known to be on state parole.  A records check found that he had an outstanding warrant.  He was arrested and booked into The Maguire Main Jail in Redwood City on the outstanding warrant.

Sometime between 12/15/05 and 2/15/06, an unknown suspect took a red two drawer “Craftsman” tool box with misc. tools from a residence on Venture Street in Moss Beach.

2/21/06, 0806 hours
Moss Beach, #06-1123
A Deputy responded to a report of a burglary on the 800 block of Airport Road in Moss Beach.  Upon arriving at the scene, The Deputy made contact with the business owner.  It was determined that the front window of the business was broken by someone throwing an office chair through it and nothing was taken.  A report was taken for the vandalism.

[name withheld], 38 of Moss Beach was arrested for Misdemeanor Domestic Violence.  Deputies responded to a residence on Culebra Lane in Moss Beach on the call of an unwanted subject.  Deputies arrived and made contact with [name withheld] and the victim.  It was determined that he had forced his way into his girlfriend’s house causing her to fall to the ground.  [name withheld] was arrested for Domestic battery, Resisting arrest, and child endangerment (all Misdemeanors).

Sometime between 2/12/06 and 2/19/06, an unknown suspect took a safe deposit key and a Post Office box key form the victim’s unlocked vehicle on Stetson Street in Moss Beach.

Auto Burglary – 459 PC (Felony)
2/22/06, 0939 hours
Pescadero, #06-1157
Deputies responded to a call of an auto burglary at Pescadero State Beach.  Deputies arrived and met with the victim.  The victim told Deputies that they were visiting from Illinois and stopped at the beach for fifteen minutes.  During that fifteen minute period someone broke the driver’s side window of the car with a rock and took the victim’s fanny pack containing her ID, credit cards, cash and her cell phone.  There were no witnesses to the incident.

Princeton, #06-1165
On 2/22/06 San Mateo County Deputies and Half Moon Bay Fire District personnel responded to a call of an abandoned fifty-five gallon drum found on California Avenue in Princeton.  California Avenue was shut down and a hazardous materials response team was dispatched.  The hazardous material team determined that the substance in the drum was epoxy residue and it was considered non-hazardous.  A county works crew was dispatched to remove the drum.

Princeton, #06-1192
[name withheld], 22 of Half Moon bay was arrested for Commercial Burglary, Resisting Arrest and Possession of stolen property.  On 2/23/06, Deputies responded to the area of West Point Avenue and Princeton Avenue in Princeton on the call of an interrupted burglary.  The suspect had fled the area after being discovered by a citizen in the area.  Deputies set up a perimeter and conducted a search with a Sheriff’s Office K-9.  [name withheld] was found hiding in a boat storage yard on Princeton Avenue.  [name withheld] was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Center in Redwood City for the Burglary (Felony), Receiving stolen property ( Felony) and Resisting arrest (Misdemeanor).

Moss Beach, #06-1209
Deputies responded to Highway One and Virginia Avenue in Moss Beach on the call of a hit and run accident.  The hit and run occurred on Highway 92 and the victim followed the suspect to Virginia Avenue where the suspect parked his car.  The Deputy made contact with the Juvenile suspect who immediately said, “I didn’t mean to hit that guy; is he OK?”  The Deputy determined that the juvenile suspect was intoxicated.  Field Sobriety tests were conducted and the juvenile suspect was arrested for driving under the influence, Driving under the influence (Under age of 21), Possession of alcohol in a vehicle and hit and run (All Misdemeanors).  At the conclusion of the DUI investigation the juvenile was released to his parents.
