Sheriff’s blotter: July 22 to 26

This week: A realtor who was bitten by a dog, a DUI on Highway 92, a probation violation involving possession of a dog, vandalism with green paint Airport Road, a DUI in Princeton, a vandal in La Honda with a prodigious thirst for Coors Light, a temporarily missing teenager at Pomponio State Beach, and a suspicious man with a stuffed animal.

Incident 05-4079
07-22-05 @ 0929hrs
El Granada Blvd.

A citizen came to the Sheriff’s North Coast Substation to report a dog bite. The reporting party, who is also a realtor, was showing his clients a home when the homeowner answered the door with his two dogs on separate leashes. One of the dogs lunged forward and bit the realtor on the lower stomach. The homeowner gained control of the dogs and apologized for their actions. The homeowner also provided a valid rabies vaccination certificate. The victim stated that he would be going to a local hospital to be treated for his wound.

DUI 05-4116
07-23-05 @ 2340hrs
Hwy 92 at Ox Mountain Rd.

Sheriff’s Deputies made a traffic stop on Hwy 92 at Ox Mountain Road. They contacted the driver of the vehicle and could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that night. Field Sobriety tests were given and failed. The driver, age 33, of El Granada was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail.

Probation Violation/Cruelty to Animals 05-4121
07-24-05 @ 0730hrs
Bridgeport, El Granada

Sheriff’s Deputies were advised by an unidentified subject of a probation violation. The probation comes from a 2003 conviction of cruelty to animals and prohibits the subject, age 47, of El Granada from having animals in his home. The animals were removed from the home and he was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail.

Vandalism 05-4123
07-24-05 @ 1002
Airport Street, Moss Beach

On the above date and time Deputies met with the victim of vandalism. Unknown subjects used green spray paint to vandalize a business and a flat bed trailer. The victim stated that she does not have any problems with anyone and stated that she has not seen any suspicious individuals in the area of her business.


DUI 05-4133
07-24-05 @ 2115hrs
Capistrano Road, Princeton

Deputies made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and when they contacted the driver they could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person. The driver, age 25, of Miramar admitted to drinking alcohol earlier that night. Field Sobriety tests were given and the driver was found to be driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Assault 05-4139
07-25-05 @ 1155hrs
North Street, Stage Road

On the above date and time, Deputies were dispatched to Seton Coastside Hospital on the report of an assault. The victim told Deputies that he was at a wedding when an unknown Hispanic male attempted to start a fight with his friend. The victim attempted to separate the two and was struck in the face which caused him to fall to the ground. The victim received an abrasion to his elbow as well as a fractured jaw.

 


Vandalism 05-4143
07-24-05 @ 2100hrs
Scenic Drive, La Honda

  Between the dates of Sunday, 07-24-2005 at approximately 2100 hours and 07-25-2005 at approximately 0830 hours an unknown subject entered the La Honda Home Owners Association Swimming Pool, located on Scenic Dr. in La Honda and burned a hole in one of the property benches.  The suspect also left approximately 24 empty Coors Light beer bottles on top of an office window sill.

07-26-05 @ 0100hrs
Pomponio State Beach

Deputies were on routine patrol when they were contacted by a female and two friends in the parking lot area of Pomponio State Beach. The reporting party told Deputies that they were there to pick up her boyfriend and a friend who had lost their keys while at the beach. When they arrived at the beach the two juveniles were no where to be found and numerous phone calls to their cell phones went unanswered. Deputies searched the highway and local beaches and were unable to find the missing juveniles. County communications called the local taxi company to see if any fares were picked up in the surrounding areas. County communications was them notified to activate the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services Search and Rescue Unit. At 0236 hours county communications was able to contact one of the juvenile’s parents and was told that the juveniles got tired of waiting and hitched a ride to the Albertsons Market in Half Moon Bay.

Suspicious Circumstance 05-4171
07-26-05 @ 1422hrs
Nevada Avenue, Moss Beach

Deputies were dispatched to Fitzgerald Marine Reserve on the report of a suspicious circumstance. The reporting party told Deputies that she was trying to take her daughter to Surfers Beach when she noticed an unknown male watching her. She left the beach and decided to go to the Marine Reserve instead. The reporting party noticed that the subject was following her. She pulled over and he drove past. She proceeded to park her vehicle and then noticed that the subject had pulled in behind her and was approaching her car. He was holding a stuffed toy and asked if she wanted it for her baby. When she told him that she didn’t want anything from him he got back in his car and drove away. Although no crime was committed the reporting party wanted to report the incident in case this happens to someone else.
