Sheriff’s blotter: July 8 to July 10

This week, it’s graffiti, a concealed weapon at Pomponio State Beach, a theft from an unlocked car, a DUI arrested by Lt. Shiveley himself, and a DUI that just couldn’t get out of the way of the Sheriff.

Vandalism 05-3847
07/10/05 @ 0430 to 0730hrs.
Pillar Ridge, Moss Beach.

Deputies responded to Pillar Ridge Mobile Home Park on a report of vandalism. Graffiti was spray painted on the gazebo, and picnic tables in the community picnic area.

7/10/05 @ 0304hrs.
Pomponio State Beach.

While on routine patrol Deputies noticed a vehicle stopped on the side of the road, with people standing next to it. They stopped to check on their welfare. As the one Deputy spoke to the subjects standing by their vehicle, the other Deputy notice a female still sitting in the truck. He went to check on her welfare, and while speaking to her he saw a loaded magazine for a semi-automatic hand gun sitting on the seat. All subjects were detained while the Deputies looked for the gun. Suspect, age 22 of San Jose, was found to be wearing an empty gun holster. When asked where the gun was he told them it was by the front tire.  Suspect had fired approximately 40 rounds of ammunition prior to the deputies’ arrival, and had an additional 75 live rounds left. Suspect was placed under arrest for a series of crimes.

6th Street, Montara

A suspect ransacked the victim’s unlocked vehicle, which was parked in front of their home. The loss was approximately $10.00 in loose coins.

7/11/05 @ 2146hrs.
SR. 1, @ Capistrano, El Granada

While on patrol in his un-marked patrol car, Lt. Shively pulled behind a white Jeep Cherokee traveling N/B on SR1. The suspect vehicle was weaving from side to side, crossing over the double yellow line. Lt. Shively activated his emergency lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield at first, but eventually stopped. He made contact with the driver, age 41 of San Francisco. After a series of field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest for D.U.I., if convicted this will be his third count.

7/08/05 @ 2210hrs.
Airport @ Cornell, Princeton.

While traveling N/B on Capistrano from the Harbor, a white Suburban backed out of a bar parking lot blocking the roadway in front of a Sheriff’s Patrol car. As the vehicle left the area, the Sheriff’s patrol car was traveling behind it. After a series of vehicle code violations had occurred a traffic enforcement stop was initiated by turning on the patrol car’s emergency lights and siren. The suspect vehicle slowed to approx. 10 mph, but did not stop for approximately two blocks. When the vehicle finally yielded, it stopped in the street blocking the road. The driver, age 49 of Moss Beach, was contacted. After she failed a series of field sobriety tests she was placed under arrest for DUI.
