Burglary of an unlocked car and a stolen truck on Ware Road, Sheriff’s deputies and dogs assist HMB PD in capturing a hiding suspect at Poplar Beach, $2,000 worth of Queen Anne’s Lace flowers (how much is that?) in San Gregorio, slashed tires in La Honda, a drug arrest in a locker on Airport Blvd., and five DUI arrests (including one driving 25 miles an hour under the speed limit and another leading deputies to his house in slow pursuit).  Says the Sheriff’s office: "The Sheriff’s Office made five alcohol related arrests on the Coast this week, and will continue to strictly enforce alcohol laws, especially DUI, throughout December."

Auto Burglary: 460(b) PC

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Ware Rd. regarding a vehicle burglary.  The victim reported that an unknown suspect entered two of their unlocked vehicles, and then removed miscellaneous property, including documents.

During the same time frame as the above theft, an unknown suspect(s) also stole a white, 2003 Chevy Silverado pick up truck from the 100 block of Ware Rd.  It is unknown if the two thefts are related. 

Warrant Arrest: Outside Assist

Half Moon Bay, #05-6665
Deputies responded to Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay on a mutual aid call for assistance from the Half Moon Bay Police Department.  Two men had fled from a stolen vehicle at Poplar Beach when HMBPD tried to stop them.  One suspect was quickly apprehended.  The second suspect fled into a thickly wooded area south of Poplar Beach.  A Sheriff’s K-9 team led the way to the hiding suspect, who was arrested by deputies without incident.  The suspect, 21 year old [name deleted], of Half Moon Bay, was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for vehicle theft, and a no bail arrest warrant for possession of stolen property.

Some time between 11-25-05 and 11-28-05, unknown suspects removed approximately $2,000.00 worth of Queen Anne’s Lace flowers directly from the field on La Honda Rd.  Queen Anne’s Lace is used to make bouquets, similar to how Baby’s Breath is used.

During the night, unknown suspect(s) slashed six tires on two separate vehicles on Pope Rd. in La Honda.  Both vehicles belong to the same victim.  There is no known motive in the vandalism.

Princeton, #05-6673
Deputies contacted 40 year old [name deleted], of Princeton, in the 800 block of Airport St.  [name deleted]was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, and he was arrested.  [name deleted]was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

El Granada, #05-6684
Deputies were alerted to a call of a reckless driver going south on Highway 1 from Montara in a purple Dodge.  Deputies located the vehicle almost immediately.  As if driving a purple car recklessly was not enough to attract the Sheriff’s attention, the car was found driving 25 miles per hours under the posted speed limit, with a line of cars behind him.  Deputies stopped the vehicle in front of the Half Moon Bay Airport, and arrested 61 year old [name deleted], of El Granada, for DUI. 

Drunk in Public/Warrant Arrest:  647(f) PC

Unincorporated San Mateo County, #05-6741
While responding to a vehicle collision on Tunitas Creek, deputies located 58 year old [name deleted], of East Palo Alto, and found him to be drunk in public.  He also had four misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.  He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for the warrants and the new charge of drunk in public.

Deputies made a traffic stop at Ave. Alhambra and Santiago for Vehicle Code violations.  Deputies found the driver, 24 year old [name deleted], of New Orleans, to be driving under the influence of alcohol.  [name deleted]was arrested for DUI.

Miramar, #05-6744
Deputies stopped a vehicle on N/B Highway 1 at Medio for weaving back and forth in the lane.  Deputies found the driver, 35 year old [name deleted], of Moss Beach, to be driving under the influence of alcohol.  [name deleted]was arrested for DUI.

Moss Beach, #05-6747
Deputies attempted to stop 30 year old [name deleted], of Moss Beach, on Highway 1 for speeding.  [name deleted] decided that rather than stop, he would drive home.  [name deleted]pulled into his driveway on Etheldore, with deputies behind him, and finally stopped.  He was promptly arrested for DUI.  The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community that when you see a law enforcement vehicle with red and blue lights behind you, you must pull over immediately.  Going home just means you get arrested in front of your house.
