This week’s crime wave: vandalism of a public payphone, public drunkeness at a camp on Pescadero Creek Road, arrest of an embezzler at an El Granada pest-control company, and a person under the influence of drugs parked on Devil’s Slide.

Cabrillo Highway

Deputies were dispatched to the Half Moon Bay airport regarding a vandalism to the public pay telephone located on the property. Upon arrival they made contact with the reporting party who told them that he had discovered that the public pay telephone located in the southwest public parking lot had been vandalized.

Pescadero Creek Road

Deputies were dispatched to Memorial Park on a report of a disturbance. Park Rangers reported that a couple who were camping in one of their campsites was involved in a verbal argument. Deputies contacted the couple and discovered that the female was visibly upset and under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point of being unable to care for herself. The woman, age 54, of Fremont was arrested and transported to the county jail.

El Granada

A two month investigation, led by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, concluded on September 15th with the arrest of a suspect of Pacifica.  She was arrested for embezzling over $38,000 from Coastside Termite and Construction of El Granada, during a seven year period, beginning in January, 1999.  She is accused of stealing over 100 company checks, forging the owner’s signature and cashing the checks.  She had been employed as the office secretary for Coastside Termite since July, 1997.  White was booked into the San Mateo County Jail and charged with Embezzlement, Forgery, and Burglary.  Bail is set at $25,000.

Devils Slide

Deputies stopped to check the welfare of subject who was in his vehicle that was parked on Devil’s Slide. Upon contact with the subject, age 34 Deputies discovered that he exhibited signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was found to be under the influence of and in possession of a controlled substance. Deputies also found five homemade explosive devices. The suspect was arrested and transported to the county jail.
