Sheriff’s log: May 15 to May 18
This week, the Sheriff’s substation in Moss Beach reported an auto burglary, possession of a deadly weapon, theft of a camper shell and two DUI’s.

Auto Burglary 05-2746 05-15-05 @ 0755hrs Terrace Avenue, Moss Beach
Two citizens came to the Sheriff’s Substation to report that their vehicle was broken into. Deputies went to the address listed above and observed the vehicle. The doors were open and the vehicle had been rummaged through. While at the scene Deputies saw another vehicle with the doors open. They contacted the owner of that vehicle and she confirmed that someone had gone through her vehicle as well. She also noticed that her brother’s vehicle that was parked close by had also been gone through.
Possession of a Deadly Weapon 05-2747 05-15-05 @ 0815 Date Street @ Franklin Street, Montara
Deputies received a call at the North Coast Substation from a citizen who wanted to report a suspicious vehicle with a person sleeping in it. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the sleeping male and asked why he was sleeping in the vehicle. The man, age 19, of Half Moon Bay told Deputies that he was too tired to drive home. Dickinson told Deputies that he was not the registered owner of the vehicle. While Deputies were trying to contact the registered owner, Dickinson was asked to step out of the vehicle. It was then that one of the Deputies spotted the handle portion of what appeared to be a possible weapon. Deputies removed a large machete type knife from under the front seat. Deputies arrested Dickinson for possession of a deadly weapon. He was transported to the county jail.
Theft 05-2754 05-15-05 Cedar Street, Montara
Deputies met with a citizen on Cedar Street who wanted to report that someone had stolen his camper shell from the side of his home. The camper shell was stored on blocks and was taken sometime between 05-01-05 and 05-15-05.
Vandalism 05-2755 05-15-05 @ 0947hrs Culebra Street, Moss Beach
On 5/14/2005, between 1500 hours and 2100 hours unknown suspects entered the Pillar Ridge Mobile Home Estates club house and damaged items in the weight room and main clubhouse. There is no suspect information at this time.
DUI 05-2811 05-18-05 @ 2011hrs Cabrillo Highway @ Filbert Street
Deputies stopped a vehicle that was weaving from side to side on the Coast Highway 1. Deputies contacted the driver, age 36, of Half Moon Bay. Lesher was found to be driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.
DUI 05-2813 05-18-05 @ 1800hrs Cabrillo Hwy. @ Pigeon Point Road
When Deputies effected a traffic stop on a vehicle with a missing license plate and contacted the driver they could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver admitted to having a beer. A twenty two ounce beer. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver, age 29 of Half Moon Bay was arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was transported to the county jail.
