Spring into Pacifica Gardens, nurture a Community

This spring, Pacifica Gardens is entering its third year of a successful cooperative gardening project.  The group has already transformed an old soccer field behind Linda Mar Elementary School into a local learning center and mini-agricultural project. New volunteers are welcome to join the group on Saturdays between 10 am and 2 pm for a recurring workday in the garden. Learn about growing crops appropriate for our Coastside climate, encouraging high crop yeilds via biointensive growing techniques, and implementing practical approaches to organic gardening.  Past group projects have included planting a "food forest"  of 20 fruit trees and an understory of 32 blueberry bushes, demonstration beds of various garden crops, assembling a donated greenhouse, and constructing a network of composting bins out of recycled wood.

This season’s workdays will hold the same opportunities for on-the-spot workshops and demonstrations and the chance to network and build community. All volunteers are welcome.

Pacifica Gardens are located at 830 Rosita Road, behind Linda Mar Education Center.
