Pacifica Beach Coalition Surf Movie Benefit, Friday, Mar 4

The Pacifica Beach Coalition and premiere sponsor Recology of the Coast present: A benefit showing for Pacifica Beach Coalition’s Earth Day event (April 16, 2011): 100FT

Wednesday, by Powerlines Productions in association with Wilson Productions (Really… 100 Foot!) and a preview of “Great Highway” by Bay Area Surf Productions, not yet released.

In November, 2001 100-foot waves rolled into Mavericks.  These were possibly the biggest waves ever recorded at Mavericks.  They were too big for the contest.  Instead the surfers gathered and surfed them for fun and somehow made it out safely.  Filmmakers Eric Nelson and Curt Myers captured it on film (one from land, one from sea) and thus 100’ Wednesday our movie was created.  We are working on getting Grant Washburn or Doc Rennecer to come talk about the day because they were surfing it.  Filmmaker Eric Nelson will be there.

Friday, March 4, 2011   Two Showings:  6:00pm and 8:30pm
Mildred Owen Concert Hall, Sanchez Art Center, 1220 Linda Mar Blvd, Pacifica

TICKETS:  $15 in Advance; $20 at the door (we expect two sell outs though!)  $10 16 and under and seniors (+65)

Weather Service says it could snow Friday night

By on Tue, February 22, 2011

The National Weather Service is forecasting that we may see snow on the Coastside by Friday night.

After a quiet weather day today and Wednesday…A return to cold wintry conditions are expected across the San Francisco and Monterey Bay region by Thursday.

A strong storm system currently in Canada will dive to the southeast and be near the San Francisco bay area Friday night. Ahead of the low, rainfall will spread across our area starting Thursday and continuing into Friday. Rainfall amounts could exceed half an inch for cities with more than an inch possible for higher elevations.

Snow levels will drop through the day and be under 1500 feet for most of San Francisco bay and between 2000 and 2500 feet on friday. Significant snow accumulations will be possible for local mountain ranges. Even colder air will continue to filter in through friday night with snow levels potentially dropping down to sea level.

Although the storm system is still a few days away…Confidence is fairly high that we will see much colder than normal weather and very low snow levels. It is important to note that at this time there is still some uncertainty with the chance for accumulating snow at very low elevations. Even if the snow does not accumulate at sea level, it will likely impact local passes and any roads above the 1000 foot level.

The Coastside Farmers Market is honored to be a formative partner with The HEAL Project.  Together, we have been part and parcel of creating an incredibly effective program and bringing a truly valuable asset to our schools, our community, and county.

On Wednesday, March 2 from 6-9pm,  we invite you to Spring Ahead with us at an “Only-on-the-Coastside” event.  The invitation is attached here, and I hope you’ll be as intrigued as I am at the idea of indulging in a strolling supper created especially for the evening by 5 top-notch chefs, who will all be there to present and discuss the dishes they have created just for us using the very best of Coastside grown, raised and harvested foods.

Take a look at the invitation attached, and then drop me a line or head to The HEAL Project website to reserve your “place at the table”!

PS: Take a gander at out fabulous raffle prize!  If you cannot attend the event, but would like a shot at having whole lot of household projects attended to, you can pick up a ticket for the drawing at Toque Blanche, Bay Books or Longboard Liquors, or by dropping me a line.
