Face2Face system has been developed to fight the Methamphetamine epidemic by showing people at risk how their faces will look like in 6 months, 1 year and 3 years after using meth. By personalizing the drug awareness message, Face2Face is effective to educated and prevent meth use by showing the shocking visual changes meth causes.

HISTORY
 
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, has created a Methamphetamine Awareness Program for Mendocino County. The two agencies were awarded a grant through the U.S. Department of Justice to combat methamphetamine related issues county wide.
Sheriff Tom Almann approached software developer Abalone LLC of Moss Beach, California with a request to develop a 3D software that can show the devastating effects of meth on a person’s face.
The result is Face2Face, which has been in operation since early 2009. institutions and community meetings.

There is a mobile “Meth Unit” that will be on hand at County Fairs, Native American “Big Times” celebrations, Health Fairs and other special events throughout the county. To date several hundred juveniles and adults watched the program and had their 3D portrait taken and altered to show the effects of meth use. Within a few days of its introduction, the Sheriff’s office received 10 invitations for demonstrations at schools and other institutions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FACE2FACE SYSTEM

Face2Face combines hardware and software to capture and alter a human face in 3D. The hardware consists of two 12 Megapixel Pentax Optio S12 digital cameras, hardware mount, tripod and remote controller.
Face2Face software runs on Windows XP or Vista computers, comes with unlimited tech support and upgrades.

OPERATION

The system is fully portable and very easy to operate. The subject is seated in front of the backpaper, a “barcode” that helps the cameras to create the 3D heads. With a remote both cameras are fired simultaneously. The software is fully automatic - with a single click the head is created. Buttons allow to view and print the 6 month, 1 year and 3 year images.
