Farallone View’s 27th annual Holiday Bazaar and Family Fair will take place Saturday Dec 1, from 9am to 2pm. There will be lots of holiday favorites—photos with Santa, handmade crafts, baked goodies and lunch, games, a children’s craft area featuring gingerbread houses and face painting. There will also be live entertainment and the famous cakewalk.

There will be a children’s shopping hour from 9 to 10am. During this time kids will have the opportunity to shop and gift wrap their purchases without help from their parents. Older kids (10 and over) are needed to help the younger ones. Students from the 4th and 5th grades will have opportunity to sign up to help during this hour.

Donations are needed: small gift boxes, gift wrap, tape, gift tags, boxes of graham crackers, hard candy (left over Halloween candy), white frosting, baked goods.

Cakes are needed for the cake walk and bake sale. Baked goods and cakes will go to the PTA room, (next to the multipurpose room) on Friday the 30th. You can also bring them the morning of the bazaar.

The Holiday Bazaar has always been an enjoyable day for everyone and a successful fundraising event for Farallone View. All funds generated by the Bazaar will go to support the art and music program at FV. This is also a fantastic community event.  Questions call Joy Portelli (650) 387-8935

Please tell me how you justify such poor service [outages of one sort or another on an almost daily basis]; interminable wait times on your "help’ lines; and finally arrogant agents asking the same questions previously asked by your automaton—resulting in any sane person losing their mind. In the end, nothing is done to correct the problems and no compensation is offered ... the ultimate monopoly.

My mountain bike was a Christmas present in 2004 and it took several months for me to ride the streets of Montara. Part of that time was training my dogs, Fred and Jackie, to heel to the bike.

I soon tried the trails in the Montara Mountains and there was one that I couldn’t get up. Well, at least peddle up.  I must have tried a hundred times.  It was impossible, and my wife was saying, "Give it up. It’s not worth the trouble."  I’ve been known to be obsessive.  Was I bringing trouble to my own house? If so, it was definitely a mole hill.

And then, one day, I saw two guys peddle up without touching ground. I had made it up many times by pushing my bike. Watching those guys, I knew it could be done.  I tried again and made it on the fourth try. Pace is everything, as I found out. It could be done, and the vendetta had begun.

Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD) has released the La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve Draft Master Plan.  Members of the public are invited to learn about and study the Draft Plan recommendations in preparation for an upcoming public hearing.

The meeting will be an informal event where members of the project team will be present to answer your questions.  This is an opportunity to preview the Plan and provide early input.

At last week’s meeting of the Coastside Fire Board, the outgoing pro-Cal Fire majority appointed the ninth member of the board, which will have four pro-Cal Fire members and four pro-Local 2400 members after the newly-elected members are seated.

Vince Williams, a pro-Cal Fire candidate in the Pt. Montara race, was at the meeting and recorded portions of the meeting. Darin Boville of Montara Fog created audio files you can listen to on the Web. There is no video.

In two separate suits, fishermen have sued Hong Kong-based Regal Stone Ltd., the owner of the Cosco Busan; Hanjin Shipping Co. Ltd. of Korea, which leased the ship; and Synergy Maritime Ltd. of Cyprus, described as the employer of the Chinese crew, as well as the local pilot of the vessel, reports the Examiner.

Oregon fishermen have offloaded in Monterey nearly 100,000 pounds of live Dungeness crab caught hear the Farallones.  "The whole thing is totally disheartening," said Larry Collins, president of the San Francisco Crab Boat Owners Association. "We’re trying to do the right thing here. We need to know the crab are safe before they get to the buyers and consumers."

San Mateo County beaches remain open despite few new tar balls washing up on the shore, reports the County Times. "Another cleanup ensued on Sunday that included those beaches, as well as Montara State Beach and Thornton State Beach in Daly City, said Beverly Thames, spokeswoman for the county Health Department.", reports the County Times.  Fitzgerald Marine Reserve was still closed on Monday, according to Thames.
