The National Weather Service is forecasting rain and winds this week, beginning Tuesday. Light rain is forecast for Tuesday, with heavier rain to follow. Wind gusts up to 50 MPH are possible on the Coastside. The heavy rain could produce flooding.

Rainfall totals from tuesday through the upcoming weekend are forecast to range from 3 to 6 inches in the north bay and from 1.5 to 4 inches elsewhere. These projected rainfall totals are only rough estimates based on latest forecast model output. Locally heavier rainfall totals are certainly possibly.  Particularly in the coastal mountain ranges. ...

Heavy rain may produce local urban flooding at times. Particularly in low lying areas. Also.  Significant rises on small streams and creeks will occur by later this week and some of these smaller streams may reach bankfull.  Particularly if heavy rain persists over any one area for an extended period of time. Because there has been a long period of dry weather leading up to this week. Larger rivers are expected to have ample capacity to handle runoff over the next several days.

People living in areas prone to flooding should monitor the latest forecasts for updated information.  Persons planning outdoor activities over from tuesday through the weekend should be prepared for wet and breezy conditions. Motorists should plan ahead and be ready for possible traffic delays. Anyone planning travel to the mountains should be prepared for possible winter storm conditions and should check local weather and road reports before departing.

The author of Klassic Koalas: The Koala Museum of Modern Art Catalogue, Mr. Francois D’Rigour, Chief Curator and Executive Chef of the Koala Museum of Art (COMA) will be at the opening in person. He is related to Montara resident, Nancy Margulies, although she disavows all knowledge of him.

Nancy Margulies created a book that is not what it appears to be.  This impressive museum catalogue represents and exhibit that never happened, in a non-existent museum, featuring actual famous works of art (all of whom Margulies modified). The book is a wonderful spoof on the real thing and the opening, planned for this spring on the coast, will be the real deal. Margulies, who presents herself as the curator of the show,  Francois D’Rigour, pictured here will appear in person and perform a brief art history lecture that will provide many more laughs than facts.

Join Coastside Land Trust for a special day learning about birds of prey on the Coastside. We will study a variety of bird species, how to identify them, their behavior, ecology, and where to find them. Led by experts Alvaro Jaramillo and Gary Deghi. This exciting event is fun for the entire family. Light refreshments will be served.
